Dorchester Nub News is delighted to welcome Agincare as its main sponsor - and in the care provider's 35th year.

The family-owned company is made up of people passionate about what they do and has prospered from its first care home in Weymouth to now being in 50 locations across the country.

This includes Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester, which is now pleased to be welcoming back visitors, and residents being able to see family and friends.

Throughout this, the home in Weymouth Avenue is constantly following the latest guidance on Covid, PPE and hygiene alongside regular testing, ensuring peace of mind for both residents and those who visit.

As well as providing residential care, Cheriton - which is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission - is also able to provide respite, reablement and dementia care, being fully equipped to support a range of needs and requirements.

In addition to high-quality care, residents enjoy a range of activities, both inside and outside in the home's enclosed garden where they can get stuck in with the gardening club. Other activities include exercise classes, arts and crafts, manicures and beauty treatments, bingo, baking and welcoming four-legged and feather friends into the care home.

They like to get out and about as much as they can - Covid restrictions permitting - enjoying a mystery tour in the minibus.

Registered manager Denise Chrippes said: "No two days are the same at Cheriton, and that's what makes being here so interesting and fulfilling. Our aim is for our residents to live as independently as possible, with someone on hand to help them.

"We have a strong team spirit and take great pride in our roles as health professionals. The team all really enjoy getting to know each person as an individual."

The team at Cheriton, which comprises Badbury House and Maumbury House, like to be a big part of the local community, having links with other groups and organisations in the town, including the church, local pre-school and now Dorchester Nub News.

At Dorchester Nub News, we are so pleased to be partnering with the care home.

Karl Hancock, CEO of Nub News, said: "The team at Agincare are so passionate about what they do and the care they deliver, qualities echoed here at Nub News.

"We're delighted to start this partnership and look forward to continuing working with them."

Martin Bottomley, Agincare digital marketing manager, said: "We're delighted to sponsor Nub News.

"Good quality, online content is essential to help us let people know all about the high-quality care we deliver in their local community. This includes home care, live-in care and residential care at Cheriton Care Home in the heart of Dorchester."

Inspired by wanting a different kind of care than what was provided, Derek Luckhurst, opened his first care home, Agincourt, in Weymouth in 1986.

The company has successfully grown over the 35 years to provide even more homes and types of care.
