A very special art installation has come to Dorchester - and the town is one of the first places to display it.
Luke Jerram's Mars is at Dorchester Corn Exchange from Wednesday, March 9 until Tuesday, March 15.
Dorchester will be one of the first venues in the country to display the seven-metre diameter artwork Mars.
Luke last brought his artwork to Dorchester in July 2019 when more than 9,000 people visited his Moon and took part in a weekend of celebrations to mark 50 years since the first man walked on the moon.
Mars transports us to this desert wasteland, to imagine what it's like to set foot on this incredible planet. The installation is accompanied by sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Dan Jones.
Mars will be open to the public:
- Wednesday, March 9 - PMLD and autism-friendly sessions. PMLD session 1pm to 2.45pm for those with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Autism-friendly session 3pm to 5pm
- Thursday, March 10 - 1pm to 5pm
- Friday, March 11 - An Evening Under Mars fundraiser. Ticketed event find out more here.
- Saturday, March 12 - 10am to 7pm
