Every month we will be sharing a circular walk in and around our local area with directions and photos. We use the OS Map app, which is very useful if you are out walking.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be able to receive the walk first and be able to enjoy it over the weekend.

This month's walk takes in the River Frome and is just over two miles, taking around an hour.

Start at the Thomas Hardy statue on Colliton Walk by the Top of Town roundabout. Walk down Colliton Walk, passing County Hall on your right and then the Roman Town House. Follow the path round to the right, signposted 'The Walks'.

Go down the steps on your left, following the sign to 'Riverside and the Walks. Follow the path round to the left and cross over a bridge. Continue straight, past a path on your right.

Keep on this path, going over three bridges, until the path turns to the right, follow it round and you will come to a road. Turn left but take care walking along it.

Keep going and on your left there will be a footpath after a green fence, it is a little hidden and opposite a road on the other side. Go down the footpath and up some steps to go through a gate. Follow the path through the field.

When you get to a road, turn left and walk past the Sun Inn. Stay on this path until it meets another just after a second wooden bridge and turn right, going back the way you came at the beginning of the walk.

Go across the bridge a follow the road round to the right, cross the road to go up the steps, turn right and follow the pavement back to the start of the walk.

This walk is just a suggestion, you can of course take any different routes you wish to make it more direct or make it longer. Always take extra care where the ground is uneven or wet.

Please leave gates as you find them - if you opened it, close it.

Please keep dogs on leads around livestock.
