Kind, friendly, dedicated and making the world a better place are just a few ways Cheriton Care Home staff have been described.

The team at the Dorchester care home has received some glowing reviews in May on leading site carehome.co.uk, recognising their wonderful and hard work.

It's been a very challenging year for care staff across the country, but they have continued to give the best possible care and service throughout the pandemic, for which they also received Agincare's Covid Hero Medals.

The niece of a resident said: "My aunt is being treated at all times with kindness and dignity. She is cared for in a safe, homely environment and the staff are always friendly. Communication is always very good. My aunt loves the food."

Sarah C, the daughter of a resident, said: "The staff at Cheriton Care Home are kind and friendly. There is a happy atmosphere at the home and the residents are treated with care and their dignity and feelings are respected. My mother has been a resident there for a year and she enjoys the activities provided and she feels at home there."

The wife of a resident said: "Sadly, after almost four years of caring for my husband of 90, who suffers with Alzheimer's and dementia, I was unable to cope with his needs i.e. falling and difficulty in walking, but I am so grateful to have found dedicated carers and support staff at Cheriton - which is within half a mile of our home, which means I can walk to visit him - who make this world a better place. He has settled in even better than I could have hoped for. Thank you."

This is on top of five stars from the Food Standards Agency, five stars on Google reviews and being rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

There's no wonder why the care home, on Weymouth Avenue, welcomed eight new residents last month and it still welcoming even more.

Manager Denise Chrippes said: "I'd like to thank everyone who feeds back to us about their experience of Cheriton Care Home, it's all useful information to let us know how we're doing and where we can continue to improve.

"We're always pleased to get feedback from residents and their families, whether it's via an online review, from regular conversations with loved ones or a thank you card during difficult times.

"Every resident is different and we're always chatting and checking in with them to find out how they are, what they think of their home at Cheriton and how we're doing.

"Word of mouth and personal recommendation are very important when it comes to choosing a care home so it's always lovely to receive positive comments."

It's a great time for residents to join the Agincare-run care home as more and more visits, activities, trips - including enjoying an ice cream in Dorchester's Borough Gardens - and celebrations are taking place, as well as the return of much-loved Trott the tortoise to the care home.
