A new florist will soon be blooming into business and opening its doors in Dorchester's Antelope Walk.

flowerful. is the idea of Miranda Pope, who wanted to find a more creative career and was attracted to floristry.

"In 2019 I made the decision to look into floristry as a career," she said. "Before that I worked in fashion, so I was a buyer and merchandiser.

"I saw a post on social media of a local florist. It was really dreamy, not glamourous, but I thought it looked like a lot of fun - what can be more fun than playing with flowers every day? was my initial thought, and now I'm doing it I realise a lot of work goes into it."

Miranda found a floristry course at Kingston Maurward and started a placement at The Happy Blossoms in Poundbury. Unfortunately, she was made redundant, along with her lecturer, Sue, who also worked there.

So, she decided to start her own business.

"She [Sue] has played a massive part," Miranda added. "We sat down and did a lot of branding. I have been doing freelance work and tried to do as much as possible, just to keep my hand in."

Miranda has provided flowers for weddings and been a part of shoots for fashion label Boden, while she has built her own brand, flowerful.

Miranda said: "We had the Dorchester market in mind, we knew who they were, they were customers we used to interact with daily, and we wanted to make sure we were keeping true to ourselves, but also fitting in with who our customer is, so we went with classic, eloquent, but still quite fun.

"The first thing we did as flowerful. was Christmas wreaths and they did so well we sold out.

"Being a Dorset company I think sells itself, but we wanted to make sure that's reflected in the brand as well, so everything we do has that in mind."

Miranda will also be featuring products from local makers, such as candles, incense and reed diffusers.

She added: "I know how hard it can be to be a small business and I just think that little extra help is massive.

"I just want people to walk in and feel really warm."

The business will also aim to be as plastic free as possible.

"In floristry there are a lot of single use plastics and there's a drive to g plastic free," Miranda said, "but it's trying to work out what's best, so we're looking to do plastic free as much as possible."

When the shop opens, flowerful. will feature four core bouquets.

Miranda added: "I'm trying to name them all after my family members. We've got the Matilda, which is going to be quirky flowers, really unusual, then the Luna bouquet, which is all pink, named after my baby niece. They are going to be full of flower, more flower heavy than foliage heavy.

"Then we have the 'big' one - which we want to be a proposal bouquet, a big event. My mum said it was a 'once in a lifetime bouquet'."

Miranda also hopes to offer more workshops and training.
