Under the spotlight: Bean on the Green
Under the spotlight: Bean on the Green

On a winter walk we passed by Bean on the Green in Fordington and the sight of people enjoy hot drinks outside encouraged us to go in.

Inside it has a lovely, warming, quirky décor and the staff, although busy, acknowledged us and were welcoming and friendly.

Although I didn't order a hot drink, I had to try one of the café's sweet treats on offer. There was a great selection - brownies, millionaires shortbread, flapjack and Bakewell slice - and of very generous size.

After a hard decision, I opted for the Bakewell slice and I am so pleased I did! It was soft with crunchy almonds and sweet icing drizzle and the bottom wasn't soggy at all and there was just the right amount of jam. It was just a shame I offered to share it.

But I will definitely be back to enjoy a coffee and another cake on the green or lunch inside!
