Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester is welcoming visitors and now enjoying increased benefits following the easing of visit restrictions by the Government this week.

Care home residents can now meet two named visitors indoors, and those who are parents can be accompanied by babies and young children, who do not count as a visitor.

Denise Chrippes, manager Cheriton Care Home, said: "We are delighted to welcome more visitors indoors at Cheriton Care Home this week following the latest relaxation of Covid restrictions.

"We know just how special visits are for our residents and their loved ones, but they're much appreciated by our care home teams, who love nothing more than welcoming families and friends through the doors.

"I'm sure that there will be plenty of smiling, happy faces in the coming days and weeks, and we're all looking forward to seeing babies and children coming into our Cheriton Care Home again."

The home is Covid free and welcoming new residents. It continues to carry out new testing and follows latest guidance on PPE and infection prevention control.

Cheriton Care Home, on Weymouth Avenue, is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission and run by independent provider Agincare, which operates more than 20 care homes nationwide from its base in Portland.

Tim Buckley, Agincare Care Homes chief operating officer, said: "Everyone at Agincare is passionate about making visits happen, so we welcome that latest announcement as a further step towards more and more people visiting in the future as we hope restrictions continue to ease.

"Throughout the pandemic we have proudly continued to welcome visitors by working with residents, their families and care home managers to find safe solutions wherever possible, depending on individual circumstances."

Visitors to Cheriton Care Home should contact the manager in the first instance so that visits can be managed in a safe and controlled way, and arrangements explained fully.
