Wonderful atmosphere for the first day of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations
The Jubilee weekend is underway with an electric atmosphere on the first day of celebrations.
People came together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with tea parties, street parties, garden parties and more, enjoy entertainment, music, activities and great food.
Dorchester's Borough Gardens was filled with families, residents and visitors enjoying the range of activities on offer - crown decorating, face painting, bungee pull and music.
People dressed in red, white and blue, enjoyed picnics, and joining together as the sun shone brightly.
This was followed by the lighting of the beacon in Salisbury Fields.
And there is so much more to come. Here's what you can expect over the weekend:
Friday:
· Inaugural Cerne Abbas Open Golf Day and big raffle draw. Tap room open from midday
Saturday:
· Brewery Square celebrations from 12noon
· Fordington community jubilee celebrations on the green from 10.30am
· Jubilee party at the palace in Borough Gardens from 3pm to 10.30pm
· Choral evensong at St Mary's Church from 4.30pm
· Charminster village fete, Charminster House, East Hill, from 2pm to 5pm
· Pummery Square Jubilee celebrations from 12noon into the evening
· Jubilee knees up at Cerne Abbas Brewery with music, entertainment and big auction
Sunday:
· The Club House - music, cocktails and food from 3.30pm
· Street party in Salisbury fields
· Celebration picnic at Poundbury Great Field from 12noon
