One of the most versatile and gifted guitarists performing today is bringing his innovative approach to Dorchester.

Sean Shibe will be performing at the Corn Exchange on Sunday, May 22 at 7pm.

He was the first guitarist to be selected as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist and his rise to acclaim has been acknowledged with major awards from the Royal Philharmonic Society and Gramophone magazine.

Artistic director Mark Tattersall said: "We are delighted to welcome to Dorchester a musician of Sean Shibe's phenomenal calibre. In this hugely original programme, Sean shows his mastery of the ancient and modern, with compositions separated by centuries but brilliantly chosen to complement one another."

Sean's recent disc of Bach has been described as the finest ever recorded on guitar, and his performance of Steve Reich's classic work, Electric Counterpoint, astonished the composer.

He was one of the first artists to return to the Wigmore Hall following the Covid-19 lockdown, receiving a five-star review from The Guardian for his "irresistible style and authority… a nonchalant virtuoso and boundary breaker".

Tickets cost £10 or £18 for members of Dorchester Arts, under 18s and those on low income and are available from dorchesterarts.org.uk or by calling 01305 266926.
