West Country writers are encouraged to enter Dorchester Literary Festival's Hall and Woodhouse Prize

Organisers of Dorchester Literary Festival are calling all West Country writers.

The Hall and Woodhouse prize is a biannual prize organised by the literary festival and open to published writers.

A spokesman for Dorchester Literary Festival said: "We're passionate about supporting emerging local writers. So, if you live in or have a strong connection with the West Country and have been published within three years of the submission date, either by a local publisher or self-published, please don't hesitate to send in your entry."

Writers have until March 15 to submit their book and all types of literature - except poetry and books written for children - are eligible.

A long-list of successful entries will be issued in May, followed by a short-list to be judged by a leading publisher and leading literary agent.

The winner of the £1,000 Hall and Woodhouse prize for 2022 will be announced at an award ceremony in July, hosted by a leading local author.

Entries should be submitted as a conventional book. Entries in digital or electronic form and unpublished manuscripts are not eligible.

Entries should be sent by post to DLF Writing Prize, 9 Kempston Road, Weymouth, DT4 8XB.

Entries will not be returned and entered into a prize draw in aid of a local charity.
