EXTENSIONS to a Charminster care home have been given the green light – along with the demolition of some outbuildings.

The application from Wolfeton Manor at East Hill will, if implemented, see an increase from 55 to more than 80 full and part-time staff, and double the amount of car parking to 30 spaces.

A Dorset Council report says the changes will make more efficient use of the site and provide a better environment for around thirty residents living there now and offer additional rooms to take the business up to 57 residents.

Charminster parish council welcomed the changes but added that they would not expect to see any significant felling of mature trees on the site.

Full details of the application, and others in the rural Dorchester area, can be found on the Dorset Council website using the references provided, below.

Check out the application. WD/D/20/003282 : WOLFETON MANOR, 16 EAST HILL, CHARMINSTER, DORCHESTER, DT2 9QL. Demolition of satellite building & erection of extensions to existing care home & associated development. Granted.
