Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, paid tribute to the millions of lives lost to genocide at Dorchester's Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th January. The theme of the event this year was the 'Fragility of Freedom'. The well-attended event, held at the Corn Exchange, brought together local organisations, dignitaries, and schoolchildren.

Mr Loder said: "I was honoured to attend the Holocaust Memorial Day in Dorchester to pay tribute and remember the millions of lives lost to genocide. It's especially important this year, as the Memorial Day marks the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda."

He continued: "Holocaust Memorial Day teaches us the importance of challenging prejudicial behaviours and the language of hatred. It was exceptionally moving to hear the Mayor of Dorchester, Alistair Chisholm, and pupils from Sunninghill Prep and Thomas Hardye schools speak about the barbarism of genocide. We must never forget how fragile freedom can be, and we must all ensure we play our part in protecting each other's freedoms."
