Clinic eyes a new home on industrial estate

A PRIVATE eye clinic is planning to open on one of Dorchester's industrial estates.
The company, which offers a range of treatments, is expected to move into Grove House on the Millers Close industrial site.
The building was last used for a care company and has been used, prior to that, for NHS offices.
SpaMedica say that externally the building would remain much as it is although with the addition of an air conditioning plant which would result in some new vents, grilles and new windows throughout both floors with a new, external, bin store.
Internally there would be changes to the building to provide treatment and consultation rooms, staff rooms and a new reception area.
There are around 30 parking spaces on the site with a bus stop less than a quarter of a mile away at the bottom of The Grove.
The business is one of the NHS 'partners of choice' and claim to be the largest provider of NHS cataract surgery since 2018 with 97 per cent of patients achieving driving standard vision after surgery.
A statement from the company said: "There are significant benefits to having a SpaMedica hospital nearby with dedicated modern eye facilities and world-class consultants, operating with efficiency at a very high success rate.
"This significantly reduces referral for treatment time for cataract surgery is just four weeks – much shorter than NHS hospitals."
