St Peter's Church in Dorchester will host a carol concert next week in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

It will take place on Thursday, 21 December 21 at 7pm. Entry is free, and there will be refreshments.

The event has been organised by Peter Oakes and Oksana Papeta. Peter says: "It was in February 2022 that Russia invaded Ukraine, but Ukrainian families are still coming to this country to help keep their children safe.

"One such child is Angelina, who is now three. When she left her homeland to come to Dorset, she was barely old enough to speak, but is now taught Ukrainian here by her grandmother. In return, Angelina teaches her grandmother English!"

Peter added said that Angelina and other Ukrainian children living in the region will perform seasonal Ukrainian folksongs and will dress in national costume adding to the traditional English performance of well-known carols.
