Dorchester's Brewery Square will be hosting free bouquet and vinyl gift making sessions ahead of Mother's Day.

Taking place from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, March 26, guests can try their hand at flower arranging in the centre of the Square and create their own flowers and bowls made from old vinyl records to gift on Mother's Day.

Charlotte Spracklen, centre manager at Brewery Square, said: "We wanted to help people give their loved ones something a bit different this year. Flowers are the classic Mother's Day gift, so being able to give mum a homemade bouquet along with another quirky hand-crafted present such as a vinyl bowl will be truly special.

"We love to host events which bring friends and family together for feel-good experiences that add something special to days out in Dorchester."

The event is in partnership with Stems Florist and Vinyl Van, supplying all the materials needed. Brewery Square will be teaching guests how to create the perfect bouquet, while Vinyl Van will be providing the expert know-how to create an alternative musical gift.

Staff from the shop will show visitors how to create a unique memento crafted out of vinyl that is scratched or warped, avoiding them going to waste and landfill.

Helen Moody, who works at Vinyl Van, said: "We like to avoid plastic waste as much as possible, and a great way to do that is turn old records into a great gift your loved ones can cherish for many years. We're very excited to be teaming up with Brewery Square this year to teach others how to create a fun and unique present for that mother figure in their life and can't wait to see everyone's creations."
