A FORMER banger car racing field at Fairways, near West Fossil, Winfrith Newburgh could become a secure dog park under plans submitted to Dorset Council.
The application (P/FUL/2025/06752) seeks permission to change the use of six acres of land off the Wareham Road, with proposals to install 6ft deer fencing, timber posts, a shelter and parking areas.
A planning agent, acting for the Dean family, says: "The site's location, combined with high local demand and a lack of dedicated canine facilities in the area, makes it an ideal site for this use. Ms Maryanne Stokes is a professional dog groomer, trainer, and dog show judge.
"She currently owns and operates The Groomery, a well-established grooming business in the nearby village of Winfrith Newburgh.
Ms Stokes also runs and manages Dorchester Ringcraft Training – a local dog training club that supports owners in developing sound handling and obedience skills."
