A Dorchester coffee shop says it is unable to continue operating due to rising costs.

Rising food costs, rent, rates and utility bills mean The Pantry on South Street has closed.

Announcing the closure on social media, the coffee shop urged people to continue supporting independent businesses with many struggling.

A spokesperson for the business said: "We have had some amazing times and made lifelong friends whilst being here. There have been ups and downs but we have enjoyed every minute of being here.

"We have been very fortunate having a fantastic team of staff who have worked hard to make the business a success, they will remain friends forever.

"We wish every independent business luck in weathering the storm of a continuing difficult economic climate. As a customer please remember to support independent businesses. The owners and staff rely on income to support their families."
