A Dorchester care home continued its 'Good' rating after a recent inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Agincare's Cheriton Care Home in Weymouth Avenue had an unannounced inspection on June 23 and 24 and was rated 'Good' in two key areas, safe and well led, with the other key areas - effective, caring and responsive - rated 'Good' from a previous visit - retaining a 'Good' standard overall.
Residents and their families told inspectors how much their loved ones enjoyed life at Cheriton, supported by caring and knowledgeable staff who knew them well. The positive and open relationship between residents, the care team and visiting health professionals was also highlighted in the report.
The report stated: "People, relatives and staff felt the service was well led. Staff spoke positively regarding the registered manager and the management team and felt well supported within their roles.
"The service worked closely with a variety of health and social care professionals to ensure people received timely and effective care and support."
Registered manager Denise Chrippes could not be more thrilled about her team's achievements. She said: "We are delighted that Cheriton Care Home has been rated 'Good' following recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
"Cheriton has not only retained its historic overall 'Good' rating, but is also rated good in every single inspection category - a testament to the efforts of our incredible team and the community that we, our residents and their loved ones have built together.
"It has been a challenging two years, and we were particularly pleased that the people the inspectors spoke to said that our residents enjoyed living at Cheriton."
Intended as a real home from home to residents, Cheriton provides affordable residential, respite, reablement and dementia care to older people.
It boasts 70 rooms in a range of sizes, including some to accommodate couples. Many ground floor rooms have direct access to the large garden and courtyard.
As well as visits from friends and family, residents enjoy trips out into town, Brewery Square and Borough Gardens, as well as a range of activities organised by the care home's skilled activities co-ordinator.
Cheriton is now recruiting people for caring in a wide variety of roles, offering flexible working patterns with full-time and part-time roles, with a £500 welcome bonus and free training at Agincare.com
