Dorchester: Christmas experience returns with hopes of raising £10,000 for the air ambulance
Nutley Farm's Christmas Lights and Reindeer Experience returns this year with hopes of raising £10,000 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Anne Roots is staging the festive experience with her son, Julian Hubbuck, at the farm near Crossways from November 26 to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Anne was rescued from her home by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in 2015 after her horse and carriage overturned, having been spooked by farm machinery. Following her recovery, she has been determined to do all that she can to raise funds for the life-saving charity.
Anne said: "Despite huge difficulties due to Covid, we were delighted to hold our first Christmas Lights and Reindeer Experience at Nutley Farm last year. We raised over £5,000 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and hope to double that amount this year. All proceeds raised from a dedicated raffle, reindeer feed and other festivities will go to the air ambulance.
"This year's event sees many new additions, plus a longer illuminated walk trail, where visitors can wander through the improved glittering light installations and twinkling trees. It's a fantastic family occasion with something for everyone.
"Our new 'Elf Hunt' will provide festive fun for children walking the illuminated route, along with the opportunity to meet and feed our four friendly reindeer and to have their picture taken with Santa's sleigh. Visitors can also keep warm whilst enjoying our seasonal food, hot chocolate, mulled wine and cider in our new festive indoor barn."
Visitors can support the air ambulance by entering a raffle, with all proceeds going to the charity. First prize is a romantic weekend stay for two adults in the Gatehouse at Nutley Farm, with a hot tub and luxury hamper full of Nutley produce.
Emma Jones, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fundraising manager, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Nutley Farm is supporting us again this year with its amazing Christmas event.
"Personally, I can't wait to see the gorgeous reindeer and be surrounded by all the sounds and excitement of Christmas.
"A huge thank you to Anne and everyone at Nutley Farm for their continued support."
The Christmas Lights and Reindeer Experience is open from 4pm to 9pm daily - with the exception of December 25 and 26 - until January 2.
Tickets cost £8.50 for adults and £5 for children aged three and over. Parking costs £5 per car.
