Dorset Community Assemblies will be at Dorchester's vegan megamarket this Sunday.

They will be inviting people to discuss the question, 'how can people be encouraged to adopt a plant-based diet, what are the potential challenged and barriers and how can we overcome them?'.

The group will be in Maumbury Rings from 2pm and the assembly aims to explore some of the barriers and challenges faced by those seeking to reduce their own meat and dairy consumption and encourage others to do the same.

Julie-Ann Booker, who will be helping to facilitate the assembly on Sunday, said: "The assembly will be a facilitated conversation where all voices are equally valued, and active listening is encouraged.

"Many of us are on a journey to do what we can to help reduce CO2 and other harmful emissions that are causing this climate and ecological emergency. Reducing our meat consumption and, for some, moving to being a vegetarian or a vegan, is just one of the ways to do this.

"It's not easy but talking to others in a safe space who are also trying can be a very empowering experience."
