Fire crews took over a building site in Bridport last night (Monday) to practice rescuing two people from a height.

Crews from Bridport Fire Station, along with Dorchester Fire Station and Weymouth Fire Station technical rescue team, carried out a simulation drill on the crane at the site next to Sydney Gale.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "The drill involved two casualties on top of the crane. First on scene were Bridport crews who ascended the crane, stabilised the casualties' injuries and prepped the casualties ready for evacuation.

"Dorchester and Weymouth crews then ascended and set up the rope rescue to lower both casualties off the crane.

"We would just like to say 'thank you' to McCarthy Stone for offering the use of their site and equipment and to the site foreman who stayed on to open and close the site for us."
