The A35 near Dorchester is closed due to a lorry fire.

Travel Dorset reports that traffic is queuing between the Stinsford roundabout and the Troytown turn-off near Puddletown.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "The A35 is closed in both directions between the A354 near Puddletown and the B3150 near Dorchester due to a vehicle fire.

"Reports from the scene is that is a large fire and it is expected that the road surface may be damaged. This may become a protracted closure.

"There are currently slight delays on the approach to the closure on the A35 in both directions."

It reports there is not currently an estimated time for the road to re-open.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are on scene extinguishing the fire.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
