West Dorset MP Chris Loder joined thousands of local people and businesses at the Dorset County Show.

He even carried out the role of drawing the lucky ticket at the charity draw for the local farming charity 'Future Roots' on Sunday 4th September.

Mr Loder drew the winning ticket for the grand prize, a 1955 Ferguson TE20 tractor which was won by West Dorset resident Sue Johnson.

The show occurred the day before the announcement that Liz Truss, who Loder backed early in the Conservative Party Leadership Election, has been successful in her bid to become the next Prime Minister.

He said: "It was great to be at the Dorset County Show for both days, meeting with constituents and local businesses. It was a pleasure to draw the winning ticket for Future Roots – a great local charity and it was great to support them on this successful day"

Future roots is a social enterprise based near Sherborne that offers opportunities for young people seeking to build transferable skills and enhance their future potential within the environs of a working farm. It is partnered with the charity "Countrymen UK", which supports people suffering from dementia or Parkinson's disease and was voted 'Organisation of the year' by both Symonds and Sampson and Cornish Mutual. The event at the Dorset County Show raised £3000 through donations and the raffle for the organisation.

Julie Plumley, Founder and Director of Future Roots, said: "The Dorset County Show was a great coming together of so many like-minded people – young people and parents who wanted to know more about how to access our services when their young people are struggling."

Chris Loder continued: "Future Roots is one of many great local organisations present at the Dorset County Show that demonstrate the range of talent, opportunity and outreach that we are so lucky to have here amongst the West Dorset farming community."
