Roads and paths around South Walks House have been closed after high winds damaged its roof.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind as Storm Barra swept the country today (Tuesday).
The roads and paths have been closed as a safety precaution until the damage can be assessed. The library and children's centre will also be closed tomorrow (Wednesday).
A spokesman for Dorset Council said: "The high winds which accompanied Storm Barra today, Tuesday, December 7, has led to what appears to be damage to the roof of South Walks House, Dorchester.
"Emergency contractors have been contacted. However, due to the continued high winds it will not be possible to assess the damage until they subside, which we hope will be in the morning.
"As a result, the roads and paths around the building have been closed as a safety precaution. The roads affected are Charles Street, South Walks Road, from Five Cross Junction up Acland Road, and Acland Road.
"The roads will be closed until an assessment and a plan to make the building safe, have been made.
"Unfortunately, Dorchester Library and Learning Centre, which is situated in South Walks House, will also be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, December 8.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
