The fireworks due to take place at Dorchester Rugby Club have been cancelled.

Heavy rain in recent days and muddy pitches means the event on Saturday (5th) couldn't go ahead safely.

The news was announced on social media, a club spokesperson said: "Sadly after speaking to the professional team who run our display, the decision has been made to cancel the event tomorrow.

"Wind, rainwater, muddy pitches, and fireworks do not make for a safe display, and safety has to be our primary concern.

"Anyone who has paid for advance tickets will be contacted by email (check your spam folder!) and will be refunded.

"We are all gutted, but (weather permitting again) we will be back with a bang next year.

"Please pass the word around to save any unnecessary trips tomorrow."
