Dorchester Town Council's meeting tonight (Monday) has been cancelled after a number of staff contracted Covid.

The meeting ass due to take place in the Weymouth Avenue cricket pavilion at 7pm and is being tenatively re-arranged for the same location next Monday, April 4.

Said town clerk Adrian Stuart: "The council's staff have been impacted by the sudden increase in Covid numbers. We are currently progressing arrangements for the meeting to be held on Monday, April 4 on the same night as our planning and environment committee, but this remains subject to the impact of Covid."

A town council meeting in Bridport was cancelled last week for similar reasons with those who attended a joint town and Dorset Council meeting several weeks ago to discuss the town's markets being 'pinged' after the event, although it is believed the number of those infected was limited to only one or two people.
