Residents are joining in the fun and are cheering on England in the Euro 2020 championship.

Football fever has gripped the nation and it's no different at Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester with residents cheering on England and waving England flags while watching matches.

But it's not just football, there is a lot of sport to entertain the residents, with Wimbledon in full swing and the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, and even more to do for those who are not sport fans.

As restrictions have started to ease, residents have been able to get out and about event more, with visitors also welcomed back to the home.

The warm weather has enabled many trips to Dorchester's town centre for visits to Brewery Square and the Borough Gardens. There is also always an excuse for an ice cream, whether out or in Cheriton's beautiful gardens.

Manager Denise Chrippes said: "With Wimbledon, the football championship and warmer weather, summer has truly arrived and is bringing lots of fun to Cheriton Care Home.

"Our gardens have come into their own, with lots of space for activities but also quiet, more secluded areas for residents to relax and enjoy being outdoors, or spend time with loved ones.

"It has been lovely to welcome more and more visitors into the home, and our residents have been out and about exploring the local area too.

"Social interaction is so important and a big part of life at Cheriton, so we're looking forward to bringing the community back into the home more and more as restrictions ease."

Cheriton Care Home is operated by independent provider Agincare, which marks 35 years since its inception here in Dorset. It now manages more than 20 care homes across the country.
