Elf run will be huge boost for great cause

Local News by Nub News Reporter 32 minutes ago

RESIDENTS across Dorset are being invited to get into the Christmas spirit while supporting a good cause as Dorset Mind prepares to host its first Mental Elf Festive Fun Run in Poundbury.

The charity is bringing the festive 5K event to The Great Field in Poundbury, near Dorchester, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to walk, jog or run in support of better mental health.

The event, on Sunday, 13 December, will raise vital funds for Dorset Mind, which supports people experiencing mental health difficulties across the county.

Part of the nationwide Mental Elf Festive Fun Run initiative, organised by local Mind charities, the event aims to bring communities together while raising awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing.

The Great Field, already a popular location for Dorchester's parkrun community, will provide the setting for the festive fundraiser.

Organisers are encouraging individuals, families, groups of friends and workplace teams to take part, with Christmas costumes and festive outfits welcomed.

Unlike traditional running events, the Mental Elf Fun Run is non-competitive, meaning participants can complete the 5K course at their own pace.

Whether people are experienced runners or simply fancy a festive stroll with friends and family, everyone is welcome.

Money raised will help Dorset Mind continue providing mental health support to people across Dorset.

Early bird tickets available until November 13

Those wishing to take part can save money by booking before Friday, November 13.

Early Elf ticket prices are:

  • Adults (16 and over): £12
  • Children (aged 5–15): £5
  • Family ticket: £32 for two adults and up to three children
  • Under-fives: Free, although registration is required

From November 14, standard ticket prices will increase to £15 for adults, £7 for children and £40 for families.

Dorset Mind hopes the event will provide an opportunity for local people to enjoy some fresh air, get active and connect with others while supporting an important cause.
