By Nub News Reporter 9th Jun 2026
KINGSTON Maurward Estate in Dorchester is set to host the Kingston Maurward Horse Trials & Country Fair on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June 2026, bringing together British Equine Eventing competition and a lively country fair for what promises to be a highlight of the Dorset summer calendar.
The British Eventing Horse Trials will see riders compete by British Eventing, the horse trials will see riders compete across three disciplines - dressage, showjumping and cross country - across all levels. Running alongside the competition, the Country Fair is brand new for 2026 and celebrates local producers and artisans with over 25 traders already confirmed and a plant fair joining the line-up bringing in 15 specialist growers and nurseries.
Tom Hallam, Deputy Principal and Event Director of the Kingston Maurward Horse Trials, said: "We are incredibly proud to host the Kingston Maurward Horse Trials as one of the College's flagship annual events. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our outstanding estate, celebrate the strength of our land-based curriculum, and demonstrate the unique experiences available to our students. The event brings together competitors, families, local partners, staff and students, and reflects everything that makes Kingston Maurward such a special place to learn, work and visit."
Entertainment across the weekend includes a sheepdog and duck herding show, a dog show, and a plant fair with expert talks on propagation from a specialist gardening speaker. The estate's 750 acres of parkland and historic grounds provide a natural backdrop for the cross-country course, with excellent viewing spots.
The Country Fair will welcome food traders that span street food and ambient producers including chillies, jams and artisan preserves, while lifestyle stands cover countryside goods, gifts and rural crafts.
Alongside the brand new Country Fair, there are also hospitality packages for guests throughout the weekend. Working with Molecula Magic, an events catering team that brings magic to their servings, guests can expect canapés on arrival with a glass of fizz, a two course sit down lunch, and the best seats in the house to watch the show jumping - an afternoon to give Rivals a run for its money!
Hannah Bentham, Commercial Director, said: "Kingston Maurward is the perfect backdrop to celebrate our rich countryside heritage - from equestrian sports and eventing to traditional fun and games such as a dog show and even duck herding! The Estate has so much to offer in terms of history, agriculture, outdoor adventure and country lifestyle, we're excited to share more of this with our guests."
