Fish, Chips and Peter - Poetry for the Ages
Christian Aid is hosting its first fish and chips and poetry evening at the Dorchester YMCA on Saturday, 25 November.
Former teacher Peter Green has always been captivated by both ancient and modern poetry and the Covid pandemic presented him with the time to more than just dabble in the odd verse.
"My ramblings of more than 300 verses consist of short humorous poems and limericks to longer observations of nature, politics, human behaviour, satire and general "whimsy", he said.
Peter has been a long-time supporter of Christian Aid and how its work stands up for the worth, dignity and human rights of those who need our help and support to be independent and self-sustainable.
"I hope this evening of poems and tales will contribute to that invaluable work."
Dorchester and District committee chair Christian Aid committee chair Tony Boyden added: "We're very much looking forward to this evening – a new and exciting venture for Christian Aid."
Entry to the YMCA event in Sawmills Lane, Weymouth Avenue is free but by ticket only in advance of the day so meals can be ordered in advance.
Tickets for the event, which runs from 7.30-9.30pm, can be obtained from the United Church Shop, Dorchester or from Tony Boyden (Tel: 07881 464790) or Tony McDougal (07766133788).
