Christian Aid supporters have once again organised their annual eight-mile sponsored walk to the River Jordan.

It takes place on Saturday, September 30, with walkers leaving from St Peter's Church at 9.30am, and finishing up at Bowleaze Cove, in Preston.

They are invited to enjoy a picnic lunch, and return will be by public transport.

Phil Stacey, one of the organisers, said the annual event is always enjoyable but is especially poignant this year following the launch of Christian Aid's Libya Floods Appeal.

He said: "Christian Aid works with people of all faiths and none, supporting communities facing all the challenges of poverty and climate change.

"This help becomes all the more urgent in times of humanitarian disasters, such as the floods in Libya and we are glad we can support Christian Aid in our own way through our sponsored walk."

Anyone who would like to take part can get a sponsor form and details from Phil by emailing [email protected] or calling him on 0794 282 1848, or from Tony Boyden at the United Church shop.
