The Dorchester Agricultural Society's (DAS) annual charity night is back this month with 'great music and good food'.

Each year in the week leading up to the Dorset County Show, the society hosts an event to raise valuable funds for DAS charities. This year the chosen charities are the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and The Farming Community Network.

The theme of the charity night - taking place on Wednesday, August 31 at 7pm in the members pavilion at Dorchester Showground - is 'Best of British', with a prize given to the best dressed table.

Entertainment will be provided by local musician Ben Waters and his band, with guests invited to bring a picnic or enjoy a luxury picnic supper, available to order in advance from Rebecca Green Catering.

Nick Ralph, chairman of the Dorchester Agricultural Society, said: "We are delighted to host this year's charity night following the enforced two-year break, and we want to thank the community for taking part in our society and fundraising events throughout 2022.

"Our charity night is always a fun and lively event, with great music and good food, bringing the whole community together ahead of Dorset County Show.

"The society works hard to give back to the farming community in many ways, including by financial support through our charitable donations and providing a platform for exhibitors and traders at our events throughout the year."

The society also arranges a programme of other events, including the Spring Show, Dorset Tractor Run, Sheep Dog Trials and Plough Match, giving the opportunity to raise further funds.

Tickets for the charity night are available through the Dorset County Show office via [email protected] or calling 01305 264249. Tables are available for eight to 10 people, alternatively tickets can be bought individually at £25 per person.

The Dorset County Show returns on September 3 and 4 at the Dorchester Showground at Cokers Frome. Tickets cost £21 and are available at dorsetcountyshow.co.uk
