Not many people would be brave enough to set up a new business in the wake of the pandemic and the rising cost of living, but for local businesswoman Amber Bale, 30, it was all part of a dream a lifetime in the making.

Now 12 months later Amber is celebrating the landmark one-year anniversary of her business, Amber Bale Mobile Beauty and Massage.

Her journey to entrepreneurship began unexpectedly when she was made redundant from the salon where she had learned her trade over the last nine years. However, not to be defeated, in the space of just 48 hours, Amber decided to put her many years of experience and qualifications to the test by starting her own beauty business. Thus, Amber Bale Mobile Beauty and Massage Therapy was born.

After the news had spread of Amber's departure from the salon, she was quickly inundated with calls from former clients who sought her specialist talents, to the point that her diary was so full that she couldn't even squeeze in a lunch break. After just a few weeks, she had gained a large roster of regular clients, all of whom were keen to support her new business endeavour from the get-go.

Daisy, a regular client, had nothing but praise for Amber's beauty services: "I can't recommend Amber enough. She makes you feel totally at ease and you leave her treatment room feeling relaxed and refreshed. So lucky to have found her."

The months ahead brought their own highs and lows. Just as the business began to take off, Amber lost her beloved father Rupert. Having always been a staunch advocate of his daughter's career, Amber took comfort in the knowledge that her father had been able to see what she had achieved for herself in such a short time.

Amber reflecting on the rollercoaster 12 months, had this to say: "I never thought it would be possible but a whole year later here I am in my beauty room celebrating my dream that is now very much a reality."

Amber credits the success of her business to the unwavering support from her partner, her clients, and her friends and family – all of whom she would be forever thankful for. 

Amber Bale Mobile Beauty and Massage offers a wide range of beauty and holistic treatments including electrolysis, hot stone massage, Caflon ear piercing and intimate waxing in the comfortable surroundings of her treatment room in her home in Preston, Weymouth. For those not able to travel to Amber's home, she can visit clients in her mobile studio, covering in and around Dorchester and Weymouth.
