Latest Dorchester planning applications

A HAIRDRESSING salon which has been trading in the middle of a Dorchester residential street for decades could be converted into a home.

If approved by Dorset Council a blocked up door between the single storey property and the adjoining building will be re-opened for the hairdressing salon to become part of No 45 Olga Road.

No changes are proposed to the outside of either property in the planning application.

Ward councillor Les Fry has supported the change of use saying there are other hairdressers in the area and the small, single room, is unlikely to attract another business use.

Other Dorchester plans under consideration include an application to change the use of what is described as "a residential outbuilding" in Coburg Road as a holiday let and the retention of an MoT test area on the Great Western Industrial Estate.

P/HOU/2025/00411 : 38 Treves Road Dorchester DT1 2HE. Erect front porch with rooflight, erect single storey rear extension and external alterations.

P/HOU/2025/00645 : 15 Came View Road Dorchester DT1 2AE. Erect 2 storey rear extension and carry out external alterations.

P/FUL/2025/00546 : 38 St Georges Road Dorchester DT1 1PA. Erect two-storey dwelling with off-road parking

P/FUL/2025/01029 : Great Western Industrial Estate, Unit 4 Great Western Industrial Estate Access Road Dorchester DT1 1RD. Retain Ministry of Transport (MOT) test bay within existing vehicle workshop

P/HOU/2024/06632 : 20 Prince Of Wales Road Dorchester DT1 1PW. Demolish single storey side extension and replace with single storey side extension. Demolish rear conservatory and erect new single storey rear infill extension and external alterations to main dwelling. Modify the existing vehicular access and off road parking. Granted
