AN application for changes to a 'double ended' property which runs from Dorchester's South Street to Trinity Street has been approved by Dorset Council.

It will include a new shop front for the former Martins newsagents on the South Street side of the property with a new door for access to a flat, above, together with the demolition and rebuilding of a first floor extension.

To the rear of the site, in Trinity Street, a new shop front is planned to what was last used as a tattoo business, adding a new roof and making internal changes.

Planning consent for the re-development was sought prior to the fire which destroyed the next-door Gorge Café in South Street and has resulted in part of the street remaining sealed off for safety reasons.
