Four homes are to be built on the site of existing garages in Dorchester.

Magna Housing has been given consent by Dorset Council for the 1,500 square metre plot to rear of 13-19 Eddison Avenue.

The association will demolish the two rows of garages and build two 3-bed houses, one 2-bed and one 1-bed house. A revised layout reorientates the houses so they are further away from the northern boundary, in response to concerns from residents.

Two of the houses will be for social rent and the other two delivered as affordable housing on shared ownership terms.

The proposals allow for parking spaces, a garden shed for each property and will also involve the removal of one tree – although two new trees will be planted and the area laid out with shrubs.
