A man has been charged following an incident near North Square in May.

A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault in Dorchester.

At 8:16am on Saturday 7th May, Dorset Police received a report of a disturbance in the area close to North Square. It was reported that a man, who was on the floor, was being stamped on by another man.

Officers attended and a 59-year-old man from Dorchester was arrested in relation to the incident.

The victim, a Dorchester man in his 30s, and the arrested man were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Following enquiries by detectives from Dorset County CID, the arrested man has been charged with unlawful wounding and is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 12th October.
