EXTRA Beryl Bike spaces are being added in Dorchester – with new spots at the south rail station and Poundbury.

Dorchester town councillors were told the news during a briefing from fellow councillors at a full council meeting.

Beryl Bikes has recently pulled out of the East Dorset area claiming low usage there made its operation unviable, despite payments from Dorset Council.

The company says it remains committed to operations elsewhere in the county including Weymouth and Dorchester.

The bike scheme's app' show Dorchester 22 bikes in the town with parking spaces off Hamslade Square, Poundbury; outside the 1610 Dorchester Sports Centre; at the County Hospital; Damers Road near the West Station bridge; South Walks near the Library; Dorchester South Station; Weymouth Avenue on the corner of the recreation ground and at Alington Avenue.
