More info on track at Dorchester station: Latest planning approvals

TWO remote customer information points have been agreed for Dorchester's West rail station.
The planning decision is among the latest approved plans for the county town – among the others the creation of new homes in the town centre.
Dorset Council has approved listed building consent for new Customer Information System (CIS) displays at Dorchester West railway station. The decisions will see two digital displays installed on the platforms, improving real‑time updates for passengers. The station, on Great Western Road, is a listed structure, as one of the Brunel stations.
In the town centre, the council has granted permission for the conversion of offices at 41 High West Street into three flats. The change-of-use scheme will bring new residential space to one of Dorchester's busiest historic streets and follows a trend of other conversions in the street mainly from former offices for solicitors and estate agents.
At 94 High Street, Fordington, a package of retrospective and improvement works has been agreed. These include the retention of two newly installed stoves and flues, replacement of modern single‑glazed windows with double‑glazed units, lime plaster repairs, fresh rendering, repointing to a brick gable, installation of a French drain, and repairs to two porches.
Several household developments across Dorchester have also been signed off. At 10 Cromwell Road, the council has issued prior approval for a rear extension projecting six metres, with a height of 2.7 metres. At 6 Holly Close, plans to build an extension and convert the existing garage have been approved.
A certificate of lawfulness has been granted for works at 25 Lancaster Road, where the homeowner intends to replace a conservatory with a more permanent structure and add a three‑square‑metre front porch.
