Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a report of a fight in Dorchester town centre.

At approximately 1.05am on Sunday, February 12, officers attended a report of a fight involving two men outside the Royal Oak in High West Street.

A 31-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of affray. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Harry Amos, of Dorset Police, said: "There were a number of people in the area at the time and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

"Also, I am appealing directly to the other man reportedly involved in the incident to please get in touch so we can take your account of what happened."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230022809.

Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
