Police ask for witnesses and information after woman died in crash near Dorchester

By Nub News Reporter   24th Oct 2025

POLICE are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision near Dorchester.

Officers received a report at 5.34pm on Wednesday, 22 October of a road traffic collision involving a black Kia Niro and a grey Peugeot 107 on the A37 near Maiden Newton.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Peugeot, a 49-year-old woman from Weymouth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and for specialist officers to examine the scene.

Police Sergeant Mike Burt, of the serious collision investigation team, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died in this collision.

"An investigation is underway into this incident and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.

"Also, I am keen to speak to any motorists who captured dashcam footage of the manner of driving of the vehicles involved or of the moments leading up to the collision to please contact us. You may have vital information to assist our enquiries.

"Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online, via email at [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250156851.
