Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team have responded with a message to the public after receiving a recent report of a bird ingesting a fishing hook on the River Walks Dorchester.

It says: "We do not believe this to be a malicious incident more an unfortunate accident.

"Please make sure when fishing that all hooks/netting and fishing wire is taken home, and nothing left on the riverbank.

"The Neighbourhood Policing Team are engaging with local agencies about this matter and will be patrolling the area for reassurance."
