PROPERTIES on the southern edge of Dorchester were affected by a power outage last night (Tuesday, 29 September).

The lights went out for parts of Castle Park and Victoria Park shortly after 9pm, according to SSEN, affecting around 175 properties.

The problem was initially listed as an underground cable fault.

For most of the homes, the power was back on after less than an hour – a second outage then affected 26 homes further south of the county town, including Winterbourne Monkton and Winterbourne Herringston.

At 4.20am SSEN said that engineers were still working on an overhead cable fault and they expected the homes to be back online by midday today, Wednesday.
