MW Events, the company behind local business awards across West Dorset, has announced the second stage of its campaign to support and promote local businesses.

The West Dorset Gold Awards will comprise of the category winners from their Jurassic 2022, Dorchester 2023, Weymouth 2023 and Bridport 2023 Business Awards.

The category winners from each of these local business awards will automatically be entered and then judged against their fellow category winners across the West Dorset area.

Said Nigel Reeve of the awards organisers MW Events: "We were tired of the constant national news media coverage that just seemed to look for the bad news in every story.

"We wanted to do something to promote the range and quality of local businesses. We believe that local business are the backbone of the local economy. They create employment, in innovate, they care about their customers and they adapt to fit what their customesr want.

"The concept started back in 2020 and has now grown to 18 separate awards across Dorset, each with its own local awards ceremony and winners.

"The awards ceremonies for these awards are not glitzy evening events. They are always held at lunchtime. These are grass roots business awards where the winners are the stars, not the event.

"The feedback to the concept of the 'winners' awards has been fantastic. The more we can do to promote local business the better.

Over half of the Gold Awards category sponsorship has already been placed. I'd like to thank Higos Insurance, Battens Solicitors, RiskSTOP, Gavin Dixon Financial Services, Dorset Concierge and DorsetBizNews for already getting behind this project."

The inaugural West Dorset Gold Awards will be held at lunchtime on Thursday, September 7 at Bridport Town Hall, where the idea of true local business awards was first conceived.
