A POPULAR cut-through for drivers to avoid peak time delays in Dorchester will be restricted with traffic lights until September.
The route, along Clarence and Maud Road, is frequently used when traffic tails back on Weymouth Avenue into Dorchester from the South, or when the Bridport Road, heading East, is congested.
From today (Mon 19th) until the end of August there were will be three-way lights at the Maud Road/ Edward Road junction for gas works, with no parking restrictions also in force on both roads.
On the Edward Road section alone the lane restriction and no parking rules are expected to continue until September 20th.
The works follow on from the complete closure of Edward Road at the Weymouth Avenue end, which has now been lifted, although gas main replacement work continue at Maumbury Cross junction with Maumbury Road heading into the Manor Park estate still shut off to traffic and expected to remain closed until August 30th.
