SEVERAL rural homes are set for upgrades in the rural Dorchester area, under the latest planning proposals.
In Chilfrome, the owner of Old Rectory Lodge (P/HOU/2025/06523) has applied to replace the traditional thatched roof with heritage tiles.
At Francombe Farm Bungalow in Cerne Abbas (P/HOU/2025/06503), plans include single-storey front extensions, replacement windows, solar PV panels on the main roof, and other external alterations.
Housing changes are also proposed – At Muston Farm near Piddlehinton (P/FUL/2025/06779), developers hope to demolish three existing dwellings and build three new homes. Meanwhile, Sunfields Cottage in Piddletrenthide (P/HOU/2025/07134) could see new windows, patio doors, and rooflights installed.
In Osmington Mills, a proposal at 2 Poxwell Cottages (P/FUL/2025/07012) seeks to retain an existing mobile home, while East Cottage in Littlebredy (P/HOU/2025/06917) may feature solar panels on its roof, if consent is given.
All applications are currently under consideration. Full details and opportunities to comment are available via the Dorset Council planning portal.
