An evening of jazz this Saturday as the Frank Griffith Quartet celebrates the 12th anniversary of concerts in the Dorset area.

The Frank Griffith Quartet is celebrating their 12th anniversary with a popular programme of jazz arrangements.

The show 'Jazz meets Bacharach' will be heavily influenced by legendary songwriter Burt Bacharach - composer of What's New Pussycat, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, and Walk on By.

Burt Bacharach continues to compose and tour the world today at age 94. Many of his classic songs written with lyricist Hal David - such as A House is Not a Home, Alfie, The Look of Love, Close To You and One Less Bell to Answer - will also be performed.

American saxophonist and clarinettist, Frank Griffith has appeared regularly at the Ealing Jazz Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Pizza Express Soho, and Ronnie Scotts. He has also played with and/or arranged for Sir John Dankworth, Dame Cleo Lane, Kenny Wheeler, Mel Torme, Ron Carter, and Lionel Hampton. He is joined by pianist, Guy Gardner; bassist Ron Phelan; and Quinny Lawrence on drums. Rachel More, a Bournemouth-based vocalist, will join the quartet, to sing many of the featured songs. Rachel has performed extensively in the UK and abroad including in well-known jazz venues such as The Spice of Life, the former 'Pizza on the Park', the National Theatre's foyer jazz programme and Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street.

A real treat for jazz lovers, the quartet performs Jazz Meets Bacharach at Dorchester Arts on Saturday 17th September, at 8pm. Tickets can be booked through the Dorchester Arts website or call 01305 266926.
