A second batch of tickets to the 33rd Dorchester Beerex are now on sale.

The popular event returns to the Corn Exchange on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5 with lunchtime and evening sessions.

Tickets are available from the Convivial Rabbit, Copper Street brewery and Brace of Butchers.

Due to the present conditions with Covid-19 and any other possible winter outbreaks, customers will be asked to leave contact details on purchase of ticket. This is to be able to trace customers in the event of an incident.

Beerex spokesman Rich Gabe said: "This year has raised organisational challenges like never seen by us before, our priority is running a charity fundraising event as safely as possible and giving customers a great time.

"Beerex makes a superb night out while raising money for good causes like this year's main charity, the Dorchester Youth and Community Centre (DYCC).

"We have a Covid plan in place and aim to be extra diligent in working to it along with up-to-date government advice."

Tickets will be sold in advance only and cost £10, which includes a commemorative glass, tokens for two halves of beer and a programme which lists the full selection of up to 80 beers and around 21 ciders, with tasting notes.

Kate Parkham, the youth work manager from DYCC said: "We are delighted that Dorchester Beerex has made us the main charity for 2022. The funds raised will make a huge difference, helping us to provide young people a safe space to socialise along with a range of activities and support. Thank you to everyone at Dorchester Beerex."

The festival started in 1988 and has always risen funds for local good causes. To date, more than £200,000 has been raised.

Ellis Ford, Beerex chairman, said: "Beer festivals are a great British institution and something we have missed for the last two years.

"Dorchester Beerex is a great day/evening out with ales carefully chosen and always with the knowledge that you will have ales and also ciders that you haven't had before.

"Combined with music on Friday and Saturday night and the knowledge that you are helping raise thousands for charity, Dorchester Beerex offers something for everyone."

Dorchester Beerex has always had support from local breweries, with this year's main sponsor seeing the return of Bridport family brewery, Palmers, which has been the principal sponsor for the last seven festivals.

Cleeves Palmer, sales and marketing director, said: "Palmers Brewery is delighted to sponsor Dorchester Beerex again in 2022. We thoroughly enjoyed being the main sponsor for much of the last decade but sadly this year will be the last year that we are the primary sponsor, it is important that the one brewer does not hog the limelight for too long.

"After the Covid interruption in all our lives it is great news that plans are well advanced for the 2022 festival; I hope you all enjoy Beerex at the same time as supporting very worthy local charities. My kindest regards to you all."
