After much anticipation and excitement in watching it progress, Poundbury's incredibly impressive play area has now opened.

The play area on the Great Field features model Poundbury buildings - the Buttermarket, Brownsword Hall and Whistling Witch - swings, slides, climbing walls, water play, 'Peter' horse cart, rotating disc, nest swing and so much more.

Families have patiently watched the brilliant community addition being built behind a steel fence, but today it has been removed and children can enjoy all it has to offer.

The play area is next to Pavilion in the Park (PiP), so get on down with the family to finally try out all the equipment.

The play area has been created in partnership with Dorchester Town Council, adding to the basketball court, football goals, zip line and exercise equipment already on the Great Field.

A public consultation was help in November 2017 and the Duchy of Cornwall received nearly 400 responses from residents, businesses, community groups and local schools. Comments included provision for a range of ages, parkour equipment, swings, slides and monkey bars and more.
