Walkers could get a bit of extra time to cross the road on Dorchester's London Road – if Dorset Council is able to help.

Dorchester town and unitary councillor Stella Jones has asked for extra time to be added to the lights at the London Road/King's Road junction to ensure pedestrians can cross safely by the bridge.

She says that the current phasing of the lights means that walkers have to take their chances when crossing the road there.

Cllr Jones told town councillors that the crossing had become more popular during lockdown with local people discovering what is known as the Ratty's Trail walk which starts from the bridge and heads towards the county showground.

"All it needs is a pedestrian button there to change the lights. At the moment you have to try and look in all directions before racing across the road," she said.
